Location: Kent Campus Hospital, Dover Delaware

Status: Full Time 80 Hours (Exempt)

SALARY RANGE: 87,089.60 - 134,992.00YEARLY

General Summary:

The Clinical Risk Analyst is an RN, MSN with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience; performs a variety of patient safety and risk management activities with emphasis on incident analysis and investigation, error prevention and risk reduction. This is an on site position located in Dover, Delaware.


Responsibilities:

1. Manages and reviews online safety/variance reports by analyzing and summarizing events, updating and correcting fields, sending to appropriate leader for follow up, and elevating when indicated for serious/sentinel/recurring events/trends.
2. Collaborates with managers/designees in completion of investigations and assures that follow up is documented into the report.
3. Maintains an accurate and current safety/variance report database through continuous review and processing of reports.
4. Enters end-user feedback/follow up into the safety/variance reports.
5. Identifies serious safety/sentinel events that present an imminent/substantial risk to the organization and notifies senior management immediately.
6. Performs, coordinates, or assists with the investigation of events including fractures, Category F and above safety/variance reports, potential claims, and incidents where recurrence might result in death or serious injury.
7. Refers specific incident types to other departments/individuals for further action, including Performance Improvement, Human Resources, Compliance, Sr. VP/CNE, VP of Quality and Medical Affairs, VP Physician Services BMG, GME Administrative Director, Risk Management Physician Liaison, etc.
8. Generates, compiles and analyzes Risk Management data for dissemination to various committees.
9. Participates on committees as requested by Manager/Director.
10. Receives, tracks and files manufacturer Alerts and Recalls; collaborating with Resource Management to assure directives have been followed and Response/Reply documents are completed and returned to manufacturer.
11. Interacts with FDA investigators upon contact to verify Bayhealth compliance following receipt of manufacturer Alerts/Recalls/Notices.
12. Assists Information Technology with online incident upgrades, including testing and identification of issues prior to “go live.”
13. Updates Risk Management orientation on HealthStream.
14. Provides group or 1:1 education on the online reporting system upon request.
15. Provides telephone support and guidance to staff on multiple issues including consents, lost belongings, searches, safety/variance reporting, environmental safety, risk issues, violent or inappropriate behavior, equipment issues, elopements, etc.
16. Receives and reviews Public Safety Reports involving visitor incidents with potential/actual injury, enters online report and contacts individual involved to determine status and to provide guidance based on event/injury/liability.
17. Participates in periodic Patient Safety Rounds to assess opportunities to improve patient safety.
18. Conducts proactive risk assessments. Provides support to Patient Advocacy in addressing patient/family complaints and grievances. Analyzes issues and when appropriate, elevates to Assistant General Counsel and Risk Liaison, In-House Counsel or Director of Risk and Legal Services/Associate General Counsel.
19. Communicates with patients/families following an adverse event to provide support and information as appropriate/requested. Assists and supports clinicians in documentation and disclosure of adverse events as appropriate/requested.
20. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education:
  • Master Degree Nursing
    ;
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse
    ;
  • Experience:

    Required: 5 years of clinical experience

    Preferred: Management or clinical education experience in health care setting
